    Regarding the asks~

Alright everyone, we’ve already been through this subject before and it can be debated all day…but this blog doesn’t exist to talk about the problems in the cosplay community. It’s only here to share costumes. So please, no more questions about blackfacing. It you want to use makeup to change your appearance then fine, it is your choice to make and you shouldn’t let those who comment about it bother you. If you don’t want to use makeup then it is perfectly acceptable to cosplay Desmond if you’re black or Connor if you’re white. And once again, don’t let those who comment about it affect you. Cosplay if for fun, we’re not perfect models of the people we dress up as. There will always be ‘that’ person who says something..so just stay strong and cosplay whatever the hell you want.

Thank you, Assassins and have a nice day.

Anonymous asked: The way I see make up for cosplays is that you will never tell a dark person they cannot lighten their skin for a cosplay, so why should we care if some one darkens theirs. I mean really, we're all a bunch of geeks and gamers dressing up as fictional characters

I agree. But most people consider those who darken their skin tone to be blackfacing, and immediately jump on them for being racist because of the way it was used in the 19th century. Not that I’m saying drastically changing your skin color is a good thing..because color really shouldn’t matter and a cosplayer shouldn’t feel the need to change in order to please other people. But then again if you wanted to change then the community shouldn’t attack the cosplayer like they tend to do. Honestly I don’t see race when I look at costumers, I see the costume and how well it is pulled off by the person inside. But sadly, race will probably always be an issue.

Anonymous asked: You might want to also advise people who ask about cosplaying Connor while white that they don't paint their skin to look more like him.

True, it’s a better idea not to blackface for Connor. Though if makeup is used maybe going one shade darker isn’t bad. But if someone chooses to darken their skin and already know the reaction they will receive, well then I’m not in the position to tell them not to do it.

haytham-sama asked: I would like to ask for a bit of advice...I'm planning to cosplay Connor. I have a good facial structure for it and I'm confident I could pull it off, but there's a problem...I'm Caucasian. I was wondering if it would still be acceptable if I went along with the cosplay regardless of the "whitewashing" issue that plagues Caucasian cosplayers. Any advice helps!!!

Yes, it is perfectly acceptable to cosplay Connor even if you’re white. You shouldn’t be worried about cosplaying outside your race, this is for fun after all. My only advice is that if someone gives you issues for cosplaying Connor…then simply ignore them.
